MDW definitely. Even Wunderground says so

Midway was the official station from 1941 until 1980. Prior to 1940 the UofC was the official station from 1926. Before that it was various downtown locations....

MDW better represents the actual city environment. ORD has readings more typical of the North/Northwest suburbs. The highs aren't really different, but the lows are.

MDW and UofC which is also located in the heart of the city (but close to the lake) are very similar in that respect.

And ORD where the minimums are cooler than both MDW and UofC

Great flashback to January 1994. One of the coldest days on record

George, I can rate your climate in four words: summer decent, winter awful.

More like "winter a baby step better than Chicago".

Your winters are a bit milder than NYC, while mine are definitely colder than Boston. So in other words not really in the same ballpark, especially when it comes to minimum temperatures. In fact, my winters are basically on par with Toronto.

On the other hand, our summers are definitely warmer than Boston and Toronto, on par with NYC, and a bit cooler than Philadelphia.

But with all climate averages in eastern NA you have to caveat that. For example, Feb 2015 avg high here of 34F and low of 17.5F. That was -10 off of our monthly mean. Now you and Cambium are talking about the same type of winter here again. So, we just never know what we are going to get. That was a Chicago or Toronto type winter month we had in 2015.

Right, there are extreme fluctuations in eastern North America.... Absent of a strong La Nina signature, the reemergence of the Blob may bring back a 13-14' and 14-15' type winter. In Feb 2015, we had a negative anomaly of 13F with a monthly mean of 14.6F which is 5F colder than Montreal's normal Feb mean.

I wish you would explain that to Ionosphere or Muslim guy cause they just keep saying the 80's will never return. As if.

The blob is poised to wreak havoc on all of us this winter including the Southeast. They keep clinging to this notion that crazy anomalies are over and done with.
