July and August may have been dull, but the year as a whole hasn't:
Winter, in some parts gloomiest in 50 years
March, sunniest since 1981
April, coldest since 1997
May, warmest since 1994
June, warmest since 1999, in some parts most thunder since 1999
Lapland, first ever 30C in May
Lapland, first winter in 5 years without -40C.
Let's see what Mother Nature has in store for us for autumn...
That's a really cold March. Is that normal there? It's colder than your January and February, and colder than any March we recorded. Does your city keep snowfall data?

Oh no. But I didn't say "since x" because March 2006 was even colder. The mean temp was 4.1C lower than average and 6.8C colder than March last year. The March-April period was the coldest since 1997, as was in large parts of Europe.
But it's not unheard of either, on average one in 7 are similar to March this year, and once in 10 years March is the coldest "winter" month.
The FMI don't record snowfall data anymore, as the recorders gave unreliable results between locations. They are seeking for better recorders, but snowfall data is on hold for the moment.
Something I created in Excel, with a pretty picture to boot, since I'm bored:
