A very sunny month and a complete turnaround from July . Fifteen days exceeded 10 hours/day as well. Comparable to last August which was also very sunny although this year the temperatures were more around the long term average.

All in all, a great month to end winter on!

The first 17 days of August had at least a trace of precipitation recorded. We did have a nice few days last week though. July's average high was 62.3F and average low was 49.1, which will make August the warmest month in 2010. September will probably be very wet.

Not just cloudy, but approximately equal to the lowest August sunhisne recorded anywhere in the city (records from 1930). The total was equalled in 1930, but that was at a site with poorer exposure, so this August's effort is really the worst one.

Wasn't us, it was Ch'ch. But NZ's winter for many has been so foul - wet and dull - that it makes one think of emigrating.

I have a good friend who is a long term Wellingtonian who normally never comments on the weather (unlike us posters it is a non event to him).

He has remarked frequently the last couple of months how feral the weather has been! Hopefully things will improve...
