Turku was the capital for 600 years, and Helsinki's been only for 200 years, so let's return to the issue after 400 years. Maybe an inland capital next?
jyvaskyla, nicely on the middle surounded by lakes :P
Why not? In the middle of Finland, excellent location, beautiful surroundings, a university city... Too modern today, but maybe contemporary architecture is something special in 400 years.
Jyväskylä from the air:
Maybe it will still see some snow after 400 years.
Turku and Tampere has a long hate relationship, but people from Helsinki thinks Tampereites are hillbillies as well, but thankful that some of the rednecks from the north settles in Tampere and don't come all the way south to the coast.
What's scary about this country is that Tampere is the largest inland city in the Nordics.
Does Scotland count as a country, for the purposes of this?
For Scotland, I'd maybe change it to Aviemore.
For the UK, perhaps Cambridge.
