California is roasting today and usually here on the far north coast up near Eureka and Humboldt Bay, we may hit some low 80's, but not till maybe July if we are lucky or typically not till mid September. In the past 14 years I recorded a 93º, a 96º and a 100º here on the coast, the 96 and 93 were in Septembers and the 100 was on May 15th of 2008 and summer 2008 was one of our coolest and foggiest summers with barely anything over 73º. Today we hit a high of 91º in the center of town at 2 pm and at our house closer to the coast it was 88º at 2 pm. We never got a winter this year, just a few low 20's in early December, then no rain till February, but spring had already hit with plums blooming in late January, fruit trees are loaded with fruit and we had abundant spring rain. I knew it was going to be hot today when the sky was super clear at 6:30 am, then at around 7:30 clouds of pollen started spewing from the pine trees and spruce that are common around here. I quickly got laryngitis and could taste the pollen in the air. At 10:30 am it was already 78º, pollen was floating around in cloudy mists and one could not see the mountians anymore, just the hills.
Looks like we're back to normal. After 2 weeks of 34-35c highs, the temperature at noon is only 33c.
12:34
33c / 91f
63% humidity
25c / 77f dew point
41c / 106f heat index
Very cloudy so I doubt the temperature will go higher than that. It feels just comfortable without the sunshine.
