49.3C at Moomba Airport in South Australia today. Still got some more data coming in tomorrow from other nearby sites so we'll soon find out if anywhere actually reached 50C.

Looks like many heat records are being broken today in southern Queensland and northern New South Wales. At 1pm Queensland time, St George has reached 46.6C, 1.1C above the all-time record of 45.5C that was set a few days ago. But in Walgett, New South Wales, it has reached a full 2C hotter than this at 48.6C. There may even be the outside chance that it will reach 50C there and it is likely to beat the 49.3C at Moomba yesterday. Both of these locations are over 100m elevation. These locations are not in the far west of the state either, I never would have thought it could get so hot in these locations.

In Dalby, it has reached 41.7C today, equal to the highest temperature recorded at the airport station which has been running since 1992. The old station has recorded higher though. Of course, this temperature should go higher later in the afternoon.

Finally, a summer day that actually felt somewhat like summer! High of 26 C following an overnight low of 17 C. Beautiful blue sky all day long as well with a gusty NW wind. This was the last day of my holidays, so at least I got one good day.
