But the U.S. is the country that needs the force field the most; it has the most tornadoes out of every other country on Earth. That is nothing to be proud of; maybe the climate modification is a good idea. We already have the advanced organization of DARPA. Just let them propose a mega-engineering project (that can even be on Discovery Channel), construct it, and voila; intense, violent tornadoes that cause millions of dollars in damage every year will never happen again.

There could be many more unintended consequences. It is best to just find new ways to deal with the current climate, instead of trying to drastically alter it.
But the Eastern U.S. already has Atlantic moisture; Also, the barrier idea will only stretch from the Rockies to the Appalachians, so the U.S. East of the Appalachians will have about the same climate, just with less annoying winter weather due to the Jet Stream being blocked. The U.S. South will turn into a tropical climate (or become like New Delhi in India) because only the Gulf will influence it, not any cold fronts. That would be beneficial.

People die from weather events the world over. How many died in the Philippines just recently? As terrible as the tornadoes are, I don't think the US can plead a special case.

Any attempt to alter weather is just going to cause problems somewhere else. Lawyers would probably benefit greatly.

The geography ensures that living anywhere in the interior of the continent (east of the Rockies, and west of the Appalachians) will grant you year after year of crazy weather. If you must live in the central U.S., you must live on the Gulf Coast (Houston, New Orleans, Mobile, Corpus Christi, etc), the Great Lakes(Chicago, Detroit), or the Canada border areas (North Dakota, Montana) to have stable weather.

The coastal plains of the Gulf and Atlantic South are the only areas East of the Rockies in the United States that have proper respectable subtropical climates when compared to the rest of the world, climates that support the growth of sugar cane, okra, citrus, tobacco, rice, cotton, palm trees, and other tropical/subtropical plantings. With the exception of the coastal plains, North America is a laughing stock in the subtropical world. Intense cold and ice ruin potential crop lands for citrus growing, causing operations to be restricted to California, Arizona, the Gulf Coast, Florida, and the South Atlantic. The US shouldn't be forced to import its citrus from countries like Brazil; the US has plenty of land it should be able to use. Citrus is of such high demand in the country.

A climate modification force field, or gate that connects, say, the Sierra Madre Oriental to the Appalachians can solve the citrus problem, making the U.S. rich from exports, and stop tornadoes from ever forming again, reducing the needs for expenses concerning disaster preparation, and repair. And it will also create more livable climates.
No, climate modification is a Joke and i hope never see this !!!!
And United state has a very varied and beautiful climates !
If you want stable climate go in SF or SD, the climate variety never have to be to change, Houston has a beautiful climate in my opinion i like the diversity of the climate and i never hope all climate became stable and same !!!!!
It's very bad for the vegetation and the animals, the climate modification engender extinction of a million of plants and animals.

The entire area between the Rockies and the Appalachians is completely unlivable due to the intense climate extremes. The only areas in the U.S. with stables climates are areas west of the Rockies (like San Diego and San Francisco), the Gulf Coast (like Houston, and New Orleans), and areas east of the Appalachians ( NYC, Boston, Miami). Not even the animals (and the plants) can survive the hundreds of tornadoes, blizzards, hailstorms, and deep freezes that result from N. Americas accursed geography. Climate modification will be the best thing to ever happen to North America.

Poor OKC only went 5 yrs without tornadoes in its entire history. The United States averages the most tornadoes out of any country because of its mid-latitude position and North America's unique geography.

Tornadoes aren't the only things that result from such haphazard geography. The lack of physical barriers allows cold air to reach the Deep South, and ruin what would otherwise be an awesome subtropical climate, in the form of intense record lows only matched in Asia. This alien cold also afflicts even the tropics of the continent, sending cold as far south as Miami, and Tampico. In North America, you have to cross the Rockies, go well into Canada, or go south into Mexico/Central America to even have a stable climate(in the cool season). It's tiring when temps fluctuate all over the place in an Eastern US winter. Its just ugly to watch cold, ice, and snow kill the chances of subtropical plantings that would otherwise thrive in areas like say, Baltimore. Yep, when God was distributing good, stable weather, North America (East of the Rockies) must've been in the bathroom.

So, in the future, when the technology is developed, and the problem at hand is considered, do you think scientists should construct a giant barrier or force-field to separate the air-masses from mixing in the Great Plains?

I don't believe this thought was conceived by any but a liberal. Why not fly everyone to the next inhabitable planet HST locates?

This is the concept art of the device that will save all the poor people in the Midwest, and the Mississippi Valley from certain annihilation due to the inhospitable weather conditions. The US is in luck with DARPA, an organization advanced enough to create robot cheetahs. Once DARPA has this project built, the Central US will be safe to live in.

Nothing to do with politics; I just feel that the people of the Midwest( and the Mississippi Valley) deserve a break from all the crappy weather they deal with every year. From storms that produce hundreds of tornadoes each year, to horrific blizzards, to deep freezes and ice storms, to great heat waves.
