Just to clarify, are we talking possible sunshine hours or actual? Because I think the wiki stat factors in cloud cover as well, which would make sense as Salta receives more precipitation than San Diego. When you look at possible sunshine though the hours go way up:

Salta, Argentina - Sunrise, sunset, dawn and dusk times for the whole year - Gaisma

Also arguably this could describe the climate of Nantucket, Massachusetts quite well but with more rain in summer in place of heat waves.
Interesting comparison... to me it seems like Nantucket gets a bit too cold in the winter to fit that description but I can see why you would think that. I woud also maybe throw Asheville, NC out there due to its elevation but it sees more extremes in both summer and winter than Salta does. From what I understand snow in Salta is rather uncommon where in a place like Asheville it isn't quite as rare.

Looks like San Diego and Salta get their temperature variations very similar and rainy seasons opposite. With the hemispheres being opposite each other, they get their wet and dry seasons in the same months, and opposite each other on wintertime vs summertime.
Didn't even realize that but makes perfect sense.

Actual sunshine hours. Salta is far from being a gloomy place.

Salta for me, as San Diego is just too dry. A bit more winter rain for Salta would be nice

Seems based on the description that Salta gets quite a few t-storms during the summer, "seemingly incessant". It says the rest of the year "blue skies dominate the region". I imagine the heavy summer precip is what brings down the average. At any rate, I'd take the drop in sunshine hours if it means having a more verdant landscape. And I like the fact that winter is when it's the sunniest.

Love Salta's weather! It would be perfect if the nights were warmer and the skies sunnier.
