I predict the hottest day of the year here will be September 11 (nothing to do with the anniversary of the 9-11 attack; just a coincidence) with a high of 105 F and a low of 74 F.

A low of 87 would be physically impossible here; even if we had a high of 120 F somehow, I bet it would cool down to around 80 F at night.

A low above 80 F happens here every 2 years. Evaporated water from the river makes it hard to cool down and increases humidity.

I never experienced real humidity until my first trip to Florida last September. It felt really odd to be so warm at midnight. With El Nino coming, we have a shot at some mild humidity here in August or September (highs in the 80s with lows in the upper 60s rather than upper 50s). I'm hoping we get our once a decade summer thunderstorm too.

We may hit 90 in late July/early August, but it will still get down to the low 60s at night.

Betting that DCA will max out at 98F, and its warmest low will be 80F to 82F; I would be surprised if there isn't an 80F low. IAD maybe dock off 1 to at most 3F off DCA's hottest reading due to the extra rain (which generally means higher soil moisture) there, and 75F for warm low.

'Hedging' a 92F/72F for PIT.

That's a very tall order out in the central NJ 'burbs, river or no; even EWR and LGA have a record warm minimum of 86F, alarmingly set/tied in Jul 2011 and Jul 2013, respectively.
