You really are delusional Owen, many people drive to Europe on holiday from the UK and it is not too far at all.

Maybe. Driving to northern Spain or Italy is about 1000 miles from London. Calling that not far is a bit of a stretch. Maybe worth it for a long vacation, but that's a lot of time in the car.

Don't visit the rural people. They will take your innocence.

I found the drive from Paris to Nice unusually tedious. Maybe being used to travel by high speed rail gave me a wrong idea of the distances. Next time if I'm not in a rush I'd rather shunpike. It only takes 4 more hours.

I'm driving down to Brighton tomorrow night after work, and that's bad enough. I'm bored of driving after an hour on the motorway, but tomorrow I'll have to put up with it for 5 or 6 hours.

I like driving long distance if I'm with friends but it's pretty boring otherwise. That being said, it can be therapeutic if you're driving along a scenic country route and listening to your favourite music.

I've gotten bored driving enough after 1.5 miles that I've picked up my phone and tried to read something off it. Read the weather forum while driving? Not recommended. High risk of drifting of the lane. Better choice is to blast music.

A friend of mine would get high before driving back home from college. Made the tedious 6 hour drive through rural highways go faster, according to him. Think I'll pass.

Google maps times shows 8 hours of driving. Making it a 12 hour drive would make it less tedious? Or was that a joke?

This is true.

But the point being, while cars are convenient, they are just a hassle. Repairs, driving, parking, paying insurance, gas, not being able to drink and all other stuff.
