A few wintry looking scenes from earlier this afternoon. Went for a walk along the Crane river between Hounslow and Twickenham. It may look quite nice, but it was very cold with a temperature of just 6c (had to wear gloves for the first time since February).
I was in North Philadelphia earlier this afternoon (November 21) at the Russian Orthodox Church there for an ethnic festival. I may post some photos from inside as well, but since they don't pertain to conditions outside and thus the topic of this thread, I'll do that in the General Chat thread.
Kind of a sketchy neighborhood there. Not much to see outside. Blue dome skies. Temp in the mid-50s (around 13 C).
This photo is actually of the nearby Ukrainian Catholic church. I was in there only once, over ten years ago, for my grandmother's funeral. From what I remember, it was very ornate.
I finally managed to upload some pics. I have taken some today, but I'll save it for later. Let's see what was happening on Sunday, November 1st:
Went to a nice park in Bologna. Bologna is actually almost entirely flat, but the southern part of the city is the beginning of the appenines and has nice landscapes, unlike the depressing flatlands that start north of the city and make up for most of the Po plain landscape.
A very autumnal path. A bit muddy !
Do you know this plant ?
This is part of what we see when we arrive up the hill, with the infamous cypress trees that start appearing more commonly in Tuscany (which is only about 50km south!)
Looking on the other side, there is a nice view and as you can see it was a perfect day to chill, I think it may have been around 15c
Zooming on that nice tree:
zooming even more on the other side... now that's a nice tree color !
some more plants in the path. Coming bqck on the other side of the hill, we could hear the noise made by football supporters while the Bologna team was playing, it felt really unreal while walking that path in that park !
It looks a lot like a rhododendron. They are very common here.
