You really take post 8am darkness in the winter (sunrise almost 9) over "early" midwinter civil dusk which ended only few minutes before 6pm?

Standard time solar noon matches more closely with noon. DST throws off everything.

I don't mind the way it is, but year round standard would be awful. I don't get up before 8am, so the sunset affects me a lot more.

Couldn't care less. Here it's always light in summer and always dark in winter. But if we had to choose, I'd take permanent DST.

BTW, we are changing clocks only after a couple of weeks.

Sunrise would be admittedly early, but 7:30PM sunsets during the summer would be delightful. Still later than I prefer, but still tolerable.

Lexington at 85°W is not far from the boundary of central time zone, and we don't suffer from early sunsets like the east coast does.

I think Nei would like "Owen's proposal" of you having Atlantic Standard (year round Eastern DST) year-round?

The time changes serve no purpose anymore. I bet within the next few years we change. Now whether we change to Standard time all year or daylights savings idk.

Had to look up WTF this guy was rambling about. Found something pretty hilarious, almost on par with the morons who thought CERN would create black holes:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_F...search_Program

Quote:
The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) was an ionospheric research program jointly funded by the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Navy, the University of Alaska, and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Its purpose was to analyze the ionosphere and investigate the potential for developing ionospheric enhancement technology for radio communications and surveillance.

HAARP was a target of conspiracy theorists, who claimed that it was capable of modifying weather, disabling satellites and exerting mind control over people, and that it was being used as a weapon against terrorists. Such theorists blamed the program for causing earthquakes, droughts, storms and floods, diseases such as Gulf War syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome, the 1996 crash of TWA Flight 800, and the 2003 destruction of the space shuttle Columbia. Commentators and scientists say that proponents of these theories are "uninformed", because most theories put forward fall well outside the abilities of the facility and often outside the scope of natural science.[5][6]
