The fact it dropped below 30 is unusual, it hasn't dropped below 30 in April since 2007, 9 years ago! And the fact it did it twice!

Right. 3 EWSs around the extended area have totals around the 200 mark. Even if a little overstated, that's well above average. For Ch'ch aero temp. readings, provisional figures indicate +1.6C for Tmax and -0.8C for Tmin - so the diurnal range was up because of clearer skies. Re sunshine readings, manual sites like Ch'ch Aero, Napier and a few others are not being well attended to as they are being phased out.

2016 in my hometown and in the rainiest major town/city of the country.

I also included May (1 to 10th)

It has been a very wet start of the year in the northern half of the country, I reached my annual average yesterday.

More than 2000mm since October in the northwest mountains, while some areas of the south still below 400mm

Amazing. That is a lot of rain. A lot more than we get in a year. Do you have sunshine stats available for these two locations?

So wet in northern Portugal! Is all that rain a good thing? Was it needed?

Yes, just some minor floods, . It falls 20/50mm a day during a whole week, then sunny another week, these precipitation values occur once every 5/10 years or so.

2000/2001 winter was a lot worse, record breaking even

Porto received 1724mm in just 5 months (white columns)

And Braga 2430/2580mm for the same 5 month period, depending on the station

Bethel, AK was 14.6 F above normal for April. That's quite a deviation.

Not surprisingly, the entire state was above average, for the seventh consecutive month.
