All media are now reporting five deaths at this point. Two suspects arrested. Police have not said anything about them but some media are saying the suspects are not Muslim.
The far-right does exist here but is not particularly visible or even well-organized.
It does appear that it is an attack on Muslims but it's not confirmed at this point. Sometimes it can just be some guy or guys from the community itself who were angry at something. But that's not what it looks like so far.

Yes, Muslim-on-Muslim violence is far from nonexistent (Sunnis vs. Shiites). So either way, the outcome of this won't be surprising (whether it's a far-right loony or a radical Muslim). You are correct that the far-right is very marginal in Canada. We'll have to wait and see.

Some media are saying one suspect is 27 years old and has a Québécois (French Canadian) name.
One of the suspects had an AK-47.
The above is uncomfirmed so far.
The mosque in question was the target of what you might call a hate crime during the last ramadan when someone placed a pig's head on its doorstep during the night.
That's really sad. Canada seemed to be the last corner of the West that survived the rise of far right/Neo-Nazi lunacy the past couple of years, hopefully it's not a start of a trend
