This is terrible, why oh why is all the cold here again. I'll end up with the 4th below average January in a row it seems, if I believe all the cold mongering meteos. No but jokes aside, it's nice that they're trying this. That corner has been a part of the city for 140-150 years, so why just don't build a similar building which lasts for another 150 years? Impressive that they are fitting 11 flats in that small area.

I don't know these guys so I had to look them up. Wouldn't someone who is American with a name like Joe Bastardi be of Italian origin and probably Catholic too? (Maybe he converted to Judaism for his wife?)

More senseless violence, now in Norway. A 15 yo boy stabbed two people to death on the street, apparently for no real reason.
When stuff like this happens here it usually sparks a debate about the withdrawal of government support for mental health programs.
In fact, the debate has just started again and is going on right now. This has been a very very quiet year for murders here but a mother in her 40s was actually murdered during a carjacking in Montreal this week. She was killed by a young mental/drug case guy as she waited for her teenaged daughter who was finishing work in a café.
In the newest PISA test Finland is again best in Europe, losing only to South Korea and Indonesia where they work the kids to death.
I am not making this up, but last night a lady I know here was talking about how great the Finnish education system is. She is having trouble with the school system here and her son who has an attention deficit.
