This winter but not in 2017, I was referring to this year. I believe this December was in 2016.... A p### poor excuse of a warm winter. More ice days than normal and a zone busting low that tied a daily record low.... I never said this was not a warm winter, just a p i s s poor excuse of one...

Now GFS repeating same scenario from january...

Lol, 50 F above average would have you at 100 F for an average high in January

50 F below average would be ****ing sweet!!!

So if winter here was consistantly 5F below average with one day that was 85F It would be acceptable to say that it was "one **** poor excuse of a cold winter"?

You just need to accept that winter in your climate will NEVER be stable and no matter how warm or cold the winter as a whole is, there will always be a chance for record temps. Cold or hot. Did you not have a high of 76F this January? That's warmer than the average high in Key West that time of year.

It would , I would actually take 50f below average over 50 above just for fun. F### all the palm trees. Sadly neither scenario is possible anywhere on earth. Maybe the arctic?

To me it was, to you maybe not; we all have different standards that cause us to clash. Don't stress too much over my bitterness. This has been 100% been a warm winter, just not perfect. I was just sad that we dropped to 9 , not even NYC did that.

50F below average is maybe just inside the range of possibility, definitely more possible than 50F above average. I think somewhere like western Russia or the upper plains could see a month like that every thousand years or so.

For here the coldest month I'd think would be possible under the current climate would be like 62/45 and the hottest like 92/83

For Raleigh coldest maybe 28/10 and the warmest 95/78.

LOL! I don't know about 28/10, would be a good 10 degrees colder than 1977 on high and 5 on low. Hottest may be 100/73. Though these Temps are all possible it would take a very persistent pattern to hold Temps here long enough and cold enough for 28/10, which is extremely tough to do so it would be a 1.5×10^-69 percent chance of happening lol.

Where did you get that number? Lmao. I just took what I guessed would be the coldest and hottest two week period in record and extrapolated for the whole month. 28F might be a stretch though, as would be the low of 78F. Perhaps I'll revise my guesses to 31/10 and 99/75.
