San Diego remains a bit cooler than the LA area of coastal SoCal Dry Summer Subtropical USDA ZONES 10-11 (AKA Mediterreranean) in the winter (avgs mid to upper 60's, in LA it's upper 60's to low 70's).
Interesting to note Zone 11, the mildest zone in the U.S. occurs only in the Florida Keys, SoCal coast, and Hawaii, below 2000 feet.

There is not one specific place in California that is best, they all have thier own unique things about them, but San Diego is very nice if you like the beach, Lake Tahoe is nice if you like mountains and a beautiful lake. Stay a while and visit a few places.

For me,that is San Diego...

I totally agree, San Diego. Right by the ocean. The hottest it gets during the summer is only about 85 degrees. Almost no rain

I agree. Death Valley is a fascinating place.
A lot of good views, especially from the mountains surrounding the valley.

SF is a very comfortable climate

I had a wool US NAVY pea coat and it was never cold enough to use it, I sold it on ebay because it doesnt get cold enough for a heavy wool coat.
