Hey folks,

Just a question. What do you think of the contrails in your region. Did they increase the last years or not?

What percentage of the time you think the sky is covered bij contrails or "suspicious" cirrus clouds?

I don't believe in conspiracy theories, so this is not meant to be a chemtrail thread.

I find contrails very annoying because they block the bright Sunshine too much.

In my region the years 2000-2003 were by far the worst. After that the number of contrails decreased and (more importand), they persist a shorter time.

Wild estimation: I think about 5-10 percent of the sky is covered bij contrails now. In the years 2000-2003 it was at least 20 pct.

Contrails aren't that common where I live. Maybe the upper levels of the atmosphere are too dry or something. I think they happen more in winter but I'm not really sure. I don't care about them one way or the other.

I find contrails interesting.

When I see them I wonder where the plane originated and if it is civilian or military.

There is a US airforce base in Buffalo-Niagara, sometimes I think could from there,
"Patrolling" into Canadian airspace.

Or if civilian, a flight flying over southern Ontario enroute to Europe,
originating somewhere in US Midwest?

I remember when flights in NW Europe were grounded due to that volcanic eruption in Iceland, the skies were clear of contrails and planes in general for a while. It was nice.

Contrails are around for about 6 months of the year here. Only occasionally seen during the warmer months.

At times, a single contrail will spread out and cover about 20% of the sky, while retaining it's borders. Mostly they dissipate though.

Contrails here tend to occur when there is cirrus. Otherwise they are only very small or nonexistent.
