But that's not the point. Longyearbyen is under arctic air most of the time. It's the beneficiary of some warming courtesy of the gulf stream but it's still arctic.
Sure, but arctic and oceanic aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. I don't think having high latitude should discount the fact that it's oceanic.

Oceanic to continental is a continous scale.

Jan Mayen has annual range of only 11ºC from warmest to coldest month, and is thus more oceanic than Longyearbyen.

But Jan Mayen at 71ºN still is a tundra. An oceanic tundra.

It's not the high latitude. It's the minimum temperature below 0°F for four consecutive months. That's not oceanic! Sure, without the ocean it would be even worse but that's not good enough.

Edmonton is warmer in winter and cooler in summer than Winnipeg because of the ocean. But that doesn't make Edmonton oceanic. The point is there can be some influence from the ocean but you need to consider the dominant influence.

Well, obviously the difference between Edmonton and Winnipeg isn't nearly as big as the difference between Longyearbyen and Eureka Edmonton doesn't have literally half of the annual range as Winnipeg (it's only a few degrees warmer in winter, and a few degrees cooler in summer). Also, Edmonton doesn't exactly have a low annual range for its latitude, indicating that the oceanic influence is limited....unlike somewhere at the same latitude like Northern Germany for example.

Also, not to mention an average low in winter of slightly sub-0 F doesn't mean jack **** when the average summer high is only 44 F in the warmest month.

Absolutely spot on. It's a tundra in the winter and it's a tundra in the summer. Influenced by the gulf stream but still a tundra.

Exactly, they're not mutually exclusive. Mentioned that for like 45th time now on this thread.

They are mutually exclusive. These two are not equivalent or even similar:

Temperature matters.

No, it's a tundra. You had it right the first time. Try talking to the moderators--maybe they can help you fix your second post.
