Upstate New York having a nightmare summer, with every month since May being below average and only reaching a high of 86F, and only reaching 83F in July and August. New York New York is having an average but boring summer which is a far cry from the glorious summers we had in the early-2010s
Lower sun angle making it harder to burn off clouds?
definitely by mid-September valley fog lingers much longer

I can tell it's later part of summer because the "early morning glow" lasts longer into the morning now. Besides that, it still feels like the middle of summer. Not surprising, August is our hottest month....
even at the same temperature, doesn't feel as summer-like with the low sun angle. Sun doesn't feel that high up at 4, and isn't as close to overhead. meh; there's a different feel to the weather now then a month ago.

Also, we have a very wet pattern coming up, with the next seven days all having at least 60% possible chance of rain/thunderstorms. This is more than likely from the tropical wave that's sitting over the Bahamas right now. Getting a wet pattern due to tropical low pressures is a very late summer/early fall type of pattern. Matter of fact, September is the second wettest month in South Florida and August is the third wettest month.
well rain band coming through will bring us wet weather tonight...ugh it looks bright red 40 miles west of here but it's taking it's time; I was hoping for nice storms before I go to bed. seems like when we get cool & dry northern air you get especially hot & humid air. This is a really long stretch of sunny weather, but perhaps the best time of year for such a stretch?
really stuffy inside, nice to know it'll naturally clear out in less than a day
Here's the latest. Coastal Texas and Louisiana in the bulls eye. Looking very wet in South Florida as well.
It looks like we could have two consecutive August's with well above average rainfall if that forecast verifies. Last August was the 2nd wettest on record with 10.35".
Hopefully that 7.1" moves south and west a bit. Still looking like 4-5" here which is pretty good.
When such a low lying place like South FL gets that much rain, what happens to the streets? Is there lots of localized flooding where the water comes up onto peoples lawns and in their houses? That never happens here cause our storm drains go to the Delaware River which is at sea level, and I'm at elevation 68ft above sea level at my neighborhood. South Florida would kill for that lol?
