Well both don't really have my favorite climate zone. Though California is more beautiful. I prefer the Humid Continental Climate of the Upper Midwest/Great Lakes region and in Maine
Btw California doesn't have a single chance, what about Oceanic or Continental (Pyrenees) landscapes??
The majority of California are shurblands, although the north is green, it's Mediterranean Csb forest, nothing to do with a Galician or Basque landscape... without counting that the mountains of California haven't got any chance with the Pyrenees.
Lommaren, you voted California because your dream climate is mild/warm in the summer and mild in the winter, but you didn't take account of the huge differences in the landscape and also for the people who like more continental climates, Cali has nothing to offer.
This is not a Mediterranean Spanish vs California battle. This is an entire Spain vs California battle. California doesn't stand a single chance... Many of it's territory is arid and the greener is Csb...
californias greener and high elevation areas are mostly dsb, with heavy summer thunderstorms that are rare, but if they do occure, are very heavy. Californias record low temperature is a mind boggling -45 degrees f. spain is around -20. california has much, much wetter climates than spain, and the great decidious riparian forests of the northern and central central valley are huge. California has very continental climates in the modoc county area, and the very northern central sisikyou county area gets a lot of summer rainfall and somewhat meditareanean/contiental hybrid. California has extreme diversity too. only 30 percent of california is desert, the rest is forest.
"What state has the most forest?
California. Although the largest National Forests are in Alaska and Maine has the largest forest cover in the US, California has the highest number of national forests. The state of California has 20 national forests of which 18 forests are entirely in the state while it shares two forests with two other states." https://www.worldatlas.com › articles › us-states-with-the-most-national-forests
Spain has Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza, Malaga, etc.
California has Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Fresno, Sacramento, etc.
Both are pretty good, but overall I'd give the edge to Spain, as its population centers have climates with more seasonal variation. Both Spain and California are too dry except for climates that are too cool. California is definitely capable of excellent climates though, like Ukiah.
What's even better than Spain would be Italy, Greece, the eastern Adriatic Sea, some parts of Turkey, and a lot of the eastern Med.
For spain, I really like Ponferrada, and for California, probably something like Twain Harte, or Santa Rosa for a mild climate. I'll give the edge to aCalfironia for having more precip in areas with good temp profiles for me, but appreciate Spain's less extreme precip patterns.
Spain has more thunderstorms and except for the north coast, has drier winters. California has some areas with abundant snow which is better, but also insanely boring coastal climates. It's north coast is worse than Spain's north coast as it has cooler summers. California has a region (the northeast corner) that is better than anything in Spain, but Spain is better overall.
modoc county? i think its the best climate in california too.
