The record lowest high ever recorded was the 27.8c in 1962. There are a couple of 28.x years and a few 29.x too (both 2007 and 2008 failed to reach 30C at Heathrow - but was recorded at LWC and Cambridge).

not to get a 30c somewhere is exceptionally rare . So apart from that 1985 figure we are talking 1962 then ?

that record will probably stay

1985, 1993 I think are the only other years. There may have been one in the late 70s too.

1962 I don't think will ever be beaten. That was a disastrous year all-round.

But if their forecast for 7 days in advance doesn't even come close, why do they even bother posting it? Every web site can be accurate 1-2 days in advance.

Oh wow, and some recent years too, so it may be rare but does happen every now and then. I see why you are worried about a cool summer. Not hitting 30c, and barely going over 26c is terrible. I wonder though, how is this may ranking in terms of precipitation? Will this really wet may affect summer heat?

That's surprising.

NYC has had an annual max of only 90°F before, despite having high temps averaging in mid 80's.

I predict that London has a max of 29.9999999999999 C / 85.9999999999999 F this year on September 1.

We had our highest temp of the year last year of 35c on may 5. That is pretty early and I suppose would never happen in London? What's your earliest max temp of the year?

I think Heathrow's earliest in in June.

Some parts of the UK saw their warmest day in March in 1965.

Camden Sq has seen the warmest day of the year in May 3 times, but that station is closed now, stupidly.
1922 - 32.8c
1944 - 32.8c
1965 - 29.0c
