Shame you don't recall the 1980's as most of you on here don't. This is what it was like every winter for years. One month colder than the other. Each winter colder than the one before lol. Philly going below zero for a number of years. You have just been raised in a warmer period that is ending. Get used to it lol.

So December below avg, Jan below avg, Feb ending up below avg, and you folks on here automatically think an early onset winter brings a warm spring lol. You are going to be way disappointed. There is only one part of the US that just cannot get sustained cold anymore and we all know where that is. Our loss their continual gain that won't stop for years.

Still going huh? Nice! My turn to catch up? I haven't had accumulating snow since Jan 8th. Feels like a season ago.

But some changes to the forecast for Monday-Tuesday now. Watching the potential for some snow.

Overnight models indicate a Norlun or inverted trough setup (those not sure what that is, google it).

Now GFS showing a coastal storm.

It will boil down to where the front stalls off the coast, if a storm develops along it, and what the surface temps are. GFS indicating surface too warm for snow but its cold enough above 3000' though. Details Details.

Here are the 850mb temps for that same time. Definitely cold enough at 5000'.

Playing the water vapor loop is one of my favorite things to do. You can see where the atmosphere is dry and moist and track storms.

Let's hope it's ending. Last thing we need is more winters like last year or 2012.
