Here's how Vancouver's averages have changed in January. Lots of warming and the decline in snowfall is quite evident.

1941-1970 average temps: 5.2C/-0.4C (41.4F/31.3F)
1941-1970 average Jan snowfall: 26.4cm (10.4in)
1981-2010 average temps: 6.9/1.4C (44.4F/34.5F)
1981-2010 average Jan snowfall: 11.1cm (4.4in)
My part of FL has warmed up a at unreal rate since 1978. And the last 7 years alone have been off the charts. You peeps need to wake up and face the sad fact the planet is seeing a rapid warm up and the next 70's year are gonna be bad.

I checked old 1941-1970 climate normals for places in Alberta and compared
them to 1981-2010 ...yes, big warm up.

Here are 3 examples...3 largest cities in Alberta ...in fahrenheit (hopefully everyone here is bilingual)
Back before 1975 Canada was a fahrenheit country just like the USA,
the US intended to switch to metric but then decided not to.

Calgary 1941-1970.......Calgary 1981-2010
22.5/2.0........jan.........30.4/8.2
29.1/8.0........feb.........33.3/11.5
34.3/14.3......mar.........39.9/18.5
49.2/26.8......apr..........52.2/28.4
60.6/37.0......may.........61.3/37.6
66.9/44.4......jun..........67.6/45.5
74.3/49.1......jul...........73.8/49.6
72.0/46.8......aug..........73.0/47.8
63.4/39.0......sep..........64.0/39.4
54.0/30.2......oct ..........53.1/29.5
37.7/16.9......nov..........38.1/17.2
28.9/7.9........dec..........30.6/9.0

Mostly a winter “warm up”, which in a colder climate like Calgary is a good thing.

Edmonton 1941-1970.....Edmonton 1981-2010
13.8/-2.9.......jan.........21.2/5.4
22.0/4.1........feb.........27.1/9.5
31.0/13.4......mar.........36.0/19.0
49.3/29.0......apr..........52.2/31.1
62.6/40.5......may.........63.5/41.7
68.8/48.0......jun..........69.8/49.8
74.1/52.7......jul...........73.6/54.1
71.1/50.1......aug.........72.7/52.3
62.1/41.0......sep..........62.8/42.4
52.0/31.6......oct..........50.7/31.6
32.1/16.9......nov..........32.0/17.2
20.5/5.0........dec..........23.9/8.4

Edmonton also benefitting from a little global warming too, mainly winter.

And Alberta’s banana belt city ....Lethbridge....where 20c in january is not unusual.

Lethbridge 1941-1970.....Lethbridge 1981-2010
25.2/4.8..........jan..........32.2/10.2
32.4/11.6........feb..........36.1/12.9
38.0/17.1........mar.........43.5/20.3
52.9/29.9........apr..........55.6/30.0
63.6/39.6........may.........64.9/39.0
70.2/47.5........jun..........71.6/46.9
79.6/52.1........jul...........79.0/50.5
77.3/50.0........aug.........78.8/49.1
67.3/42.2........sep..........68.4/40.8
57.4/33.9........oct...........56.7/30.9
41.7/20.5........nov..........40.6/19.0
32.2/12.0........dec..........33.1/11.5

Again mainly winter getting warmer, spring too, but fall getting a bit cooler, which is strange.

Refer to BMI's post showing how averages have pretty much remained the same over the east while with each new 30 year average the west has seen much more warming.
I agree, there west has seen more warming during the winter. But Phoenix isnt a good example as its warmth is mainly do to its increasing UHI. It's known that desert cities have seen a dramatic increase in minimum temps as less heat radiates overnight. Better examples of warming is up in the PNW.

I wouldn't say that our averages have remained the same in the winter. Warmth is beating out cold as the average the last 9 years are over 1F warmer during the winter than the 1981-2010 average of 26.4F. Btw, the 1971-2000 winter average was 25.5F, so 2011-2018 is 2F warmer than that 30 year period.

Quick look at the last decade reveals Lethbridge has averaged highs of 35.8F in January and its mean January temperature has been warmer than Windsor's.

I’m not surprised. Lethbridge had a 15C just a few days ago.

I think last winter (or maybe the two winters ago) Lethbridge had a few days over 20C.

New 1991-2020 climate normals will be coming out in just a couple of years
will probably reflect Lethbridge being warmer than Windsor in january.

High of 54 was measured in Austin today under blustery conditions, winds 15-30MPH all day. Fireplace is roaring, temp is expected down to 32 tonight.

I have brought the plants inside.
