Is the "severe/extreme" for Colorado due to the Sept. 08 snow event? The 20cm received in late October also contributes, I would think.

I was only able to find one for North America so far. I do think this map is pretty good to peep the climate zones. Places that have a WSI of 0 are subtropical (all tropical areas have a value of 0 as well). Maybe values up to 2 (or 3) and the second map, those places may have a subtropical climate. I live in the Triangle in NC, which has variable values throughout the entire metro (The north and west side of the Triangle gets more snow than the south and east side).
