Added another part to Saab Island. We'll call it "North Saab Island", capital city is Medway, which is hotter than Sabtown. A mountain range runs along the northern side, creating a rainshadow in the south, while the northern slopes are much wetter.
Medway is one of the most uncomfortable climates in the world. The ranges to the north and east largely block most of the rain, as the rainclouds tend to gather over the mountains and exhaust their load before making it to the other side. Then there is King Sab Strait, which has SSTs reaching 33-34C. This combo creates extreme heat and humidity, making Medway one of the hottest locations in the country, and also very dry for its latitude. By contrast the northern coast of North Saab Island has areas with over 1500mm of rainfall per year, and isolated pockets up to 3000mm.
With such large landmasses in between NW Oz and Indonesia, how would that affect cyclone development and storm track?
Medway:
Lovely winters btw.
Annually looks like a coastal part of the Top End or Broome on steroids.
I wonder how feeble 110 mm would be like with an avg high of 38 C.

Generally weakens cyclones, but places in Eastern Saab Island are most vulnerable.

Is there any vegetation around Medway?
Troughton Island, WA had 717mm of rain with an average high of 33.5C and low of 27.8C in December. Lowest temp for the month was 24C.
In Medway it is very humid, but not particularly wet because the mountains to the north and east create a rainshadow. Vegetation exists in Medway most Canary Island Palms, those middle eastern style date palms, coconut palms, and several other species of palms. Other types of vegetation are what you'd find in top end Northern Territory or the Kimberleys.

South Texas not warm enough for you in the winter?
This seems to match very closely with South Florida, temperature wise.
South Texas not warm enough for you in the winter?
This seems to match very closely with South Florida, temperature wise.
Was thinking more of Hilo, Hawaii with hotter summer and slightly less rain.
South Florida isn't stable enough for me, blue northerners still bring temps into the 30s from time to time..

How can vegetation exist as in the Top End or Kimberleys?
Broome is one of the more arid locales in the Kimberley, yet Medway is still hotter and drier.
Broome = 575 mm
Wyndham = 808 mm
Kunnunnura = 797 mm
Halls Creek = 559 mm
Katherine = 992 mm
Daly Waters = 669 mm
Tennant Creek = 458 mm
Mt Isa = 457 mm
When you add the higher avg temps at Medway,
I think if there's any vegetation at all, it would have to be like the Pilbara, perhaps even the drier parts...
unless there are underground springs; that would be convenient.
I would expect it might be more like Port Hedland; ann avg of 33/19 C and 310 mm.
I would also expect Canary Island Date palms, coconut palms and boab trees to perish in Medway. (without irrigation)
Dunno about the other date palms; there seem to be some really tough ones growing around Bagdad and Kuwait.
