We are supposed to have snow starting tonight through the weekend, and of course my traditional grocery day was screwed up by the winter fearing public afraid of bad weather. There was hardly ANY milk, eggs, or bread. being that those 3 things make French Toast, I guess that is how to cope with snowy/icy weather?! Seriously, why does everyone always run for those 3 things?!
Seriously, not one single flake has fallen this winter so far, and they are all doomsday, and the schools were telling the kids they probably wouldn't go to school again till next Wed!!!!
I understand everyone is a bit gunshy from last Jan's ice storm (we were right in the middle of that clusterf**k, mind you.); but seriously?! It hasn't gotten over freezing in 3 days, and isn't supposed to for a few more, and the snow they are speculating is dry powder, due to how cold it is outside.
My secret to surviving winter is not really that secret: appearance must take back seat to dressing warm. That's it.
Also in terms of clothes, scarves are very underrated (more so than hats).
Oh, well you see; you guys KNOW how to drive in snow and cold weather, since you guys get your fair share of it.
We don't know how to drive in a good rainstorm, much less snow or sleet, lol!
The last winter storm we had was a good 4" ice with another 2-3" of snow on top of that. (last Jan when we had the disaster) Before that was in 2004 when there was around 2 foot of snow dropped right before Christmas in 2 days.
So for us, it's either all or nothing, when it comes to bad weather, so I can understand why people are scared, but still some of this stuff is crazy.
We also get more ice and sleet and dangerous precipitation than you guys get too, since it gets cold, but usually doesn't stay there, so it warms up a bit, starts to thaw, then re-freezes into slick ice.
BTW, it's 8:33pm (CST) and still not one lil flake, and it's on the newspapers web site, that school might be closed tomorrow, just keep checking in.
Key to surviving winter~ok, French toast! French toast is good! But then you need a fire, a blanket, and a good book!...and maybe some homemade chili with cheese and crackers!

I'll substitute some good soup or stew for the chili and also add 3 good sized dogs to the list of must haves.
We're at day 7 and counting of temps never getting above freezing.
Try going to Costa Rica for a month, it does wonders for yourtolerance .
Would that be "cold-tolerance?"
