As for the average high here - it's still enough to have more snow than you, plus we have colder lows.
I sense jealousy.

Why would I be jealous when the winters here are far better than where you live? Did you miss the 10 inches of snow we had in January, and the foot of snow we had in March, plus low-level blizzards?

What did you have? Slush? Rain? Sleet?

The last time I checked the average high is 3c lower here in December than Galway.

Well if you weren't jealous you would not give a crud about me and my 5 weeks of snow!

And no of course not because we had loads more snow here than yous in march. They had to bring in helicopters from over there to feed people!

But you didn't. I can't be jealous of something that did not happen.

Remember, Owen, it only counts as a 'snow cover day' if >50% of the ground is covered. Patches do not count, or snow piles.

You need to start taking images of these events, including your crushing snowfalls and helicopters sending food parcels to your front door.

Livestock are people now?

I'm not bothered what the conditions are like for isolated country-folk - I can post many more articles of the conditions surrounding here that put anything in Northern Ireland to shame. Ditto for the rest of England. We're just far superior for snow - in our cities and countryside.
