I am looking for an efficiency or small apartment for rent in Palm Beach County, preferably in the $500 to $600 range. Id like to find something that has no deposit or only a small deposit but most places I find want first months rent plus a deposit equal to the first months rent and I really cant afford that right now. If anyone has any suggestions for me, I would really appreciate it as I am looking to find a place really soon! Thanks all!!

Jennifer

Tons of places in and around downtown West Palm, SOUTH of downtown. Lots of the large homes in the area have guesthouses in the back... but I think you're probably looking at at least 700/month to start in any area that's worth living.

Also, you may be able to find some options in the better parts of Lake Worth (east of Dixie Highway):

Great Efficiency Apt

Efficiency Apt -1 Mile to Beach

Beautiful Lake Worth Place

(The 15 S. Palmway is probably the best location of the above).

I too am wanting to locate to Delray Beach area, wanting to find an affordable, safe neighborhood. Rent something between $500-$650 w/some utilities included. If have any information on places, & areas I'd appreciate it. Wanting to move Feb-Mar of this yr.

You'll need to increase your living expense to at least $900 if you're concerned with safety.

To cfbs2691, thank you so much for the reply, I really appreciate it. You mentioned to increase my budget to $900 is there a good possibility to find part-time work?

If you're okay with a true efficiency (meaning your living room, bedroom, and kitchen is all the same modest-sized room) you can be in a safe area for way under $900. There are a couple for rent just north of George Bush in Delray off 3rd Avenue for like $650. That area is plenty safe and anyone who thinks otherwise wouldn't feel safe anywhere in South Florida and should probably move somewhere like Wyoming.

Haven't you heard, the place to be is North Carolina, where the streets are paved with gold, jobs are plentiful and there's no crime! Heck, even Martha Stewart endorsed new planned communities in places like Cary, NC as THE next great utopia!
