Yeah, I went to Lion Country all the time as a kid . . . and a teen . . . and an adult, etc. Just went there again this past December. I'll probably get a yearly pass when I'm living back down there (it's only $20 or so more than a one day entry, and I'd definitely go more than twice per year).

I am from TX but spent time in PBC just about every year from 1980-2004....

How about "Lucille & Otley's" restaurant in the older part of Boynton. Anyone remember this one - a real blast from the past and they had this ridiculously tall "Mile High Lemon Meringue Pie"!

I loved the radio station "Mother" it was soooo cool.
And a store called "Nepenthe" in West Palm Beach in the 60's.
The Rathskeller at FAU.

I forgot about that place, yes, it was good. I wonder what happened to them? My sister used to go there ALL the time.

Does anyone remember "The George Apartments" in Riviera Beach. My parents brought us there on vacation in the 1950"s.

Another was The Rock 'n' Roll Cafe.

I always loved going to Peaches on Okeechobee . . . it was hard to walk out of there without spending WAY too much money.

Music Mart in Lake Park was a great store. I worked there for awhile, too, and actually befriended Jaco Pastorius while working there.

Of course, the West Palm Beach Auditorium (the Leaky Teepee) is not the same place any longer. For awhile when I was a kid I think I saw EVERY concert that came through there. Those were the general admission seating days, so we'd go right after school and be first in line so we could run down the stairs, grab a chair, and throw ourselves right at the stage. Most artists I saw from the front row while actually resting my arms on the stage--no pits between the audience and the performers in those days either.

-------------

And right next door was the baseball stadium--another place I worked for awhile while I was in high school, and a great opportunity to meet a bunch of baseball players. I worked concessions. I remember that I could take home pretzels that didn't sell--I'd sometimes have 15-20 in my freezer at home at a time, lol.

Anyone else remember driving out towards Royal Palm Beach on Okeechobee and Southern when they were only two-lane roads? A friend of mine used to get a kick out of annoying people by driving fast until heavy traffic was coming eastward. Then he'd slow WAY down, lol. Wonder what happened to that guy--someone probably killed him in a road rage incident later on.
I went to a bunch of concerts there during the late 70s. I think the J Geils Band came about twice a year for a few years. Terrible acoustics but still lots of fun.

I remember when Okeechobee was 2 lane and ended at SR 7, you had to take a left if you were going west.

I used to love to go to The Palm Beach Mall back in the early and mid eighties and it was a nice mall with the lighted Wonderfall in the center.I went to the Palm Beach Mall for old time sake a few years ago when I was down on vaca and what a difference! I think half the merchandise in the whole mall was of a Scarface theme. I was kind of sad when I left.

I used to love Peaches on Okachobee back in the day too -I bought lots of cassettes there.
When did AJ Gordon's close? I used to love going there when Truc of America was playing-talk about fun!
Also I used to love Maurice's in Palm Beach. The bartender was Benny and he was a wonderful guy.He moved to the bar at The Heart of Palm Beach Hotel long before it got revamped-mid 80s. Was the Heart of Palm torn down recently?
Remember The Greenhouse?

Lake Worth Beach used to have "The Casino". The upstairs room was used for square dancing, when I was a kid.

The beach also used to have a tunnel, from the lower parking lot, to the north side of the beach.

What about the Holiday House, great food!
