A while back, me and my buddy went down to Fairmont, WV to play disc golf. Yes that's right, we drove all the way from Michigan just to play the 2 disc golf courses in Morris Park. We went on December 25/26th of 2008', when it was a record high 75 degrees.

Anyway, I remember on our drive from the hotel to the park there was a sh*t ton of abandoned houses along this one stretch. It almost looked like we were back in Detroit. But these abandoned houses were different. Not only were they not boarded up, but they had no windows or doors. Everything was completely exposed to the outside. I found this very strange, considering it was about to be the middle of winter.

Does anyone know why these houses were like this? Are the houses still standing? And what area was it in? From what I remember it was around the State st. and Pleasant Valley rd area, but im not sure on that.

They were making a new exit ramp off of the interstate I79 and bought these properties to make space for the new road. They were set to be demolished and I think this has been done.

Yes that is true...the state bought those houses, knocked them down and started a road project over there.

Most of the 'real abandoned houses have be demolished by the city...
Federal money made it possible to turn them into parking lots for the Friendly City and
grease a few palms...

As for the Magic Mile (150+ million dollar road to nowhere), those houses were filtered through the system and I've heard that an investigation is in process to see just 'who got the money...

Accountability is part of the "new look into Wv politics and new faces are asking the right questions..

As this transformation takes place, many scumbags are seeking retirement in sunny climes and bidding the fair state of Wv and its cities farewell.
