I'm thinking of relocating from GA to the Beckley area for a job in the next few months and I am having a difficult time finding information on the internet on rental homes. I've tried the local paper and a few real estate companies but can't find more than 2 or 3 properties. I have a child and would like to find out more about the local schools as well. Can anyone that posts on here recommend a rental company or real estate agency? thanks in advance.

If your child is elementry, I'd aim for the Maxwell Hills area, or the area around Crescent Elm. as those are the two best Elm schools in the city.

I know you were looking for a rental home, but here is a fairly nice apartment complex in the areas I was talking about

Furnished Apartments - Beckley, WV - Pikeview Manor

As for realtors; I've heard good things about Zaferatos Real Estate

http://www.zafwv.com/

actually, I found this doing a simple search

Default Thanks

for the information. What about Daniels or Shady Spring. I found another post on here that said those areas both had decent schools

I don't know how you found that listing as when I search for places to rent or lease I didn't see that townhouse. I came up with mostly commercial properties.

I live in a fairly large city so I'm used to being able to find hundreds of places to choose from so just one or two has been disheartening.. especially since the cost of housing there seems so high in comparison to the average salaries. According to the statistics I've been able to find at least. Makes me wonder if I could afford the move even with a raise:-(

Crescent is THE best Elm. school in the county and ranks way up there in the state. Woodrow Wilson HS offers the most classes out of all of the local high schools and is one of the most diverse HS in the state. The Middle Schools are all a wash, TBH.

Also, Shady Springs/Daniels are about 15 minutes out of the city, which can swell to 30+mins with traffic.

There are plenty of rentals around, they can just be hard to find sometimes. That townhome is in one of the nicer areas of town, there are cheaper places around. I'd just call a realtor down here and ask for advice, they might know of some places that aren't being listed.

Thanks again... I will have to wait and see about the job... its actually located in Beaver which is why I initially looked at Shady Spring/Daniels. Does traffic from the western part of the city towards the Airport swell to 30+ min also?

The stretch of US 19 from Beckley to Shady Spring can be a bear during the week in both directions. Its a two/three lane road carrying 4 lanes worth of traffic.
