Moved to Scarsdale last month and plan on exploring the area with the family. Heard about the Bronx river parkway falls- what is the shortest way to walk to them?
Thanks

The Bronx River bike path is nice, but you'll need to adjust your expectations if you're expecting large water falls. That being said, walking the path on a nice day is a great way to kill a few hours.

The following site gives a good description of how to navigate the path and has a picture of the waterfall I think you're talking about: Bronx River Bike Path (http://hikinglite.com/bronxriver.html - broken link).

Thanks Tommya! Do you have any suggestions on what else we should see in the area? Anything good in Bronxville or other surrounding areas?

Bronxville is a charming village to just walk around and shop on a nice sunny day. The path along the river in the Bronxville area is a nice place to exercise/recreate and I recommend doing so when the Bronxville farmer's market is open. Kill two birds and all that.

The best parts of the Bronx River itself are on the grounds of the Botanical Gardens and the NY Zoological Society (Bronx Zoo) both located in the Bronx proper. That is also where the 'large' falls is located.

This is fun too - A portion of the Bronx River Parkway is closed to cars for the exclusive use of bicyclists as well as joggers, walkers, people on non-motorized scooters and people pushing strollers - from Bicycle Sundays on the Bronx River Parkway To Return Sept. 11 (http://www3.westchestergov.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2674& Itemid=300371 - broken link)
