Anyone have home insurance with flood insurance? From what I read, it is hard to get that since most of us are not in a flood zone. But there is a federal program for it. So I am trying to see if I can get it. I don't expect my home would be flooded so I expect it to be cheap and give me some extra peace of mind.

Also, anyone did the research on price/quality on home insurers in the area? What was the best?

We looked at it about 15 years ago when we were considering a home in a low lying area with a "creek" (really a small river about 5 feet deep and 12 feet across) near the property. We declined to buy the house for a bunch of reasons, but the $900 annual flood premium was not one of the reasons. It can be costly, but worth it if it is a real risk. If you are in a flood area, its the national program, but many private carriers write it for other areas. I do not know the state of the current market, but 15 years ago, here were plenty of carriers writing it outside flood zones. I would work with an agent rather than do the legwork on this yourself.
