Hi! Looking for a town in West Chester that is low key with a good balance of people with mixed diversity, wealth, etc. We really loved Harrison since it seems like a great town and school district with down to earth people compared to some of the neighboring towns. As we started searching, we found we love some of the homes in West Harrison (zoned to the purchase elementary school). The biggest con I was able to find is that it’s just far from the middle/high school, but that’s not such a big deal to us. Is this an undesirable part of town? The homes we’re seeing are not part of Park Lane Reserve, they’re just a block or so away but zoned to the same schools. Any red flags we should be aware about for this area? Any help is much appreciated!!
Harrison School district is unique. It runs over 287, which is really close to White Plains.
The area you mentioned is strictly residential. There is nothing undeseriable about that location, in fact, its literally the middle of Westchester. Downtown Harrison where all the main shops are, and train station, is south of that area. If you are concerned about the commute youre better off living closer to downtown.
Like I said the school district map is unique. Harrison High School is literally on the border of White Plains by the Hutch and they used to play football games at the Middle School. Sports in Harrison are a big tradition.
West Harrison is actually closer to the White Plains train station. Harrison train station is 12 mins away.So if your living there check with the town of White Plains if you can get a permit to park at WP train station.
