Hey y'all, I want to take a long weekend trip this summer to Blowing Rock, NC. I'll be flying in from NOLA. Can anyone advise me on where the closest commercial airport is to Blowing Rock and which highway to take from there. I am geographically challenged. Thanks a bunch.

Fly into Charlotte.

You can easily get on interstate I85 (south) from the airport, take exit 17 onto hwy 321 north and be in blowing rock in about an hour from that point.

It takes me longer than an hour from the CLT airport to Blowing Rock. I can usually count on an hour getting me north of Hickory, but not all the way to Blowing Rock. More like - 1 1/2 hours, and could be slower, depending on time of day and traffic. There is often fog on 321 as one approaches Blowing Rock, too, and that can slow things down, as well.

Thanks for the headsup. I know how frightening driving through fog can be.

Well, I did say from where they enter hwy 321 off of I85 it would be about an hour - not that it was an hour from the airport

Good heads up about the potential for fog
