Casinos/gambling in Murphy (purchase, rated, money) - Western North Carolina - North Carolina (NC) -The Mountain Region including Asheville - City-Data Forum

I've seen several of these storefronts advertising gambling along the 4 lane in Murphy. Does anyone know what they are, like slot machines or what? I'm not a gambler, just curious.

I had heard there were casinos in the area , but I was expecting something a bit more elaborate like Mohegan Sun in CT.
These look kind of seedy from the exterior.

These are most likely "Sweepstakes" machines, where you purchase a phone card or something and get a chance to win a prize as a result.

There are no real casinos anywhere within an 8 hr drive of Western North Carolina.
