My bride and I own a beautiful ice cream and sweets shoppe here in Franklin NC, we have been voted best ice cream in the county and love having our own business. The thing is I just went through my second open heart surgery and it seems I'm not a lot of help at the shops, spend a lot of time traveling to Asheville and we have kids and grandchildren there, should I sell the business and move or stick it out for better times?

I'm sorry, but I don't think a bunch of strangers on a message board know enough details about your life or business to answer that question.

We could come up with some wild guesses though, if you'd like.

If you can afford to sell the business because you don't need the income, then you should move to Asheville if that's where your heart is.

But I don't know the financial situation.

What does your physician say? And your wife? If you sell the place would you retire? Would keeping working risk your health? It seems clear what you want to do. But, as noted, we don't know you or your specific financial and family situation so we can't say what to do. Even if we were close friends we might not be able (or maybe shouldn't).

I agree. if the sale leaves enough money to not to have to worry, go for it. but before your spouse should be the one to talk to .

After running your own business AND being successful I can imagine selling it and not working anymore at all could be tough though.
how about hiring staff and keeping the place ? and move to Asheville and see how you like your new chapter in life ?
