There are several subdivisions that were done in the mid 2000's by some slam bang mega builders from out of state. They were all minimum code or what they could get away with at the time, planning board approval was a wink and a prayer. Things are different now because of those cookie cutter homes that were literally thrown up.

You have good advice from mlhm5 if you decide to do a slab. But a home with a partial or full basement will sell best. In any event, make sure you get the soil radon tested and radon test for well water if you do a well. And do another radon test once the home is finished.

QuilterChick,

A couple days before you posted this comment, the question of whether or not radon was an issue had gone through my mind. I'm glad you mentioned it. That and the well water testing. We'll do both for sure.

Thank you again for the advice!!!
