Where we used to live, you could buy discount lift tickets at the local ski shops, etc. Is there anything like that available here?

I've never heard of discount tix being available for Sugar during high season other than as part of a lodging package. See this page on Sugar's web site.

For specials at Beech, go to this page. Apparently you can get discounts on lift tickets by ordering online in advance.

QC, out west there are/were a lot of places where discount tix can be purchased. We used to go to Summit County, CO years ago and you could buy discount lift tickets for a variety of the local mountains (Copper, A-Basin, Keystone, etc) in Albertson's and other local stores.... sometimes through the lodging rental agencies. We got really cheap lift tickets & lodging at Tahoe one year through some online special.

Oh yes, I know, been around, CO, UT, NH, VT and Canada, etc., ... but it's the "where we used to live" that has a dull ring in any question.

I should have added to my other post that I am not aware of discount tickets being available in local ski shops or other businesses for any of the ski areas in the NC High Country. OTOH I haven't bought a daily lift ticket in over 25 years since I've either worked at Sugar as a volunteer or instructor, or had a season pass for a couple of years.
