I live in North Asheville, so my opinion is skewed directionally there.
Marco's on Merrimon has a fantastic Brooklyn style pizza. Their sauce has a great tomato flavor, and the crust is thin and salty. On the down side - sometimes it's a little too salty. I love the basic cheese pizza - great tomato base, big pieces of fresh mozzarella, and some basil on top of that crispy crust is very nice.
Grand Central has good NYC street pizza. You know - Famous Original Ray's, or Famous Ray's Original, or Original Famous Ray's style pizza. It's true to that style and they do it well.
Barley's has a nice crust that's slightly sweet - I think it has some honey in it maybe. The sauce is good, and they have great toppings. Plus, you can buy it by the slice. Sit at the bar, have two slices with your choice of toppings, and drink from one of the best tap beer selections in town. Can't be beat.
YES, YES ! Love that place! They are not open every weekday though, ask me how I know.
Nothing worse than "driving while drooling", only to find the parking lot empty on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Pucker up, their fried dill pickles are yum too.
I haven't found anything in the area that I have felt was good enough I tell other people they need to try it when they come to town, but I'm kind of a pizza snob. There are some decent places and some have been mentioned. I have found Piazza in fairview to be okay as well. My wife and I enjoy The White Duck taco shop and have been wanting to try their new place Pizza Pura which has had good reviews but we haven't made it over there yet.

I am a pizza connoisseur if I do say so myself. Pizza Pura is da bomb! Go for it, best pizza in Asheville.
Was at the BMW dealer in Arden, two of the salesmen one who was from NYC raved about Brooklyn Bros pizza in Arden off of Sweeten Creek Rd. Has anyone tried it?
So, I tried Brooklyn Bros pizza tonight, it was pretty bad. Payed for double toppings and had to add more when I got home. Never going back.
