looking over some real estate listings lately and always google the areas after I see something I may like.
Am running up on various stories about proposed transmission lines by Duke energy...Asheville, Arden, Campobello, Saluda, and Landrum areas.
I want to get AWAY from possible fracking that will be going on in my area and def. don't want to move where these transmission lines may be going in.
What's the lastest scoop on this project ?
Where, when, etc . is all all this to actually take place or is it too early in the game to know for sure ?

I am not aware of the project you are referring to, but there is no connection between fracking and electrical transmission lines. Also, I am not aware of any fracking that is on the immediate horizon in NC, and even if there is, western NC is not an area conducive to fracking.

Edit: Found this: "Duke Energy is dropping plans for a 45 mile transmission line in Western NC":

Duke Energy drops plan for transmission line through western Carolinas

Thank you, I will look over that.
I understand there is no connection between fracking and the transmission lines, I want to just get away from projects such as those that would result in loss of property value/quality of living .
Believe me, I fully understand the diff. and know I don't want to live near either situation !
Where I live in Central NC fracking IS on the table when those gas prices scoot back up and the temp. 2 year moratoriums are lifted by certain counties.
I think NC is chasing a dream per the fracking ( amount of gas here, etc. )
but that's not to keep wildcatters , at least, from exploration procedures and they are the WORST to have to deal with.

Here is a map of SC showing the nuclear power plants. There are two on Lake Wylie (Catawba 1 & 2)- As far as Duke Energy, they own the governments of both NC and SC lock stock and barrel, so even though they are not going to build that 45 mile high voltage line today, there is always next year.
