The Green River rehabilitation project will be let in March. Construction should start sometime after August of this year and finish by the end of 2024. Westbound I-26 is scheduled to be reduced to a single lane from December 1, 2022 to May 20, 2023.

This is great news to me! I have been waiting a few years for NCDOT to rehabilitate this Green River Cove bridge and combine it into one bridge. When I inquired about it this past summer to NCDOT they said they had some bids out there for the work and it would not be a complete demolish but a rehabilitation. The gap between the east and west bound lanes will be closed up and by doing that, adds room for three lanes going each way. In the current state it has a white knuckle effect on me so I don't drive on it anymore but prefer to take a shortcut on 176 to 25. Once the bridge work is complete I think I will be okay driving on it.

Glenn Bridge Road at I-26, as well as it's intersection with New Rockwood Road, will be closed this weekend.
