That is the one down side we have found living here getting any work done is very difficult with long lead times and even then people just don’t show, call etc…
We have had the opposite experience. The service people (electrician, tile installer, pressure washer, roofer, contractor/carpenter, etc) here have all been excellent. They have shown up when they said they would and have done an excellent job for us. In fact, the service we have gotten here has been the best, by far, of any place we’ve ever lived.

We have had the same experience, as have our neighbors. Although, once we find a contractor that will actually come out, they have been good and reliable on the followups.
It's laughingly referred to as "working on Mountain time".
All of our service people have been referrals from neighbors, and we also have a reliable list for people in our development. I think this likely makes a huge difference.

Agreed, once we've found a good service person regardless of the industry, we pass them around the neighborhood and have gotten very responsive service and excellent work.

Greetings, Lizap - might you be willing to share contacts with me via PM? My daughter recently relocated there, renting now but may want to buy/build/remodel soon. Thanks for any help!

My Burlington house was under contract in under 24 hours and closed a few weeks later. Definitely a seller's market. It's crazy out there.
I was able to find a house in my price range. Bought a lot in Etowah and the house build should finish in April, privacy, with Hendersonville water/sewer. In the meantime I found an apartment in Arden and have been here since the beginning of January.
Like other posters have said, you need to figure a reasonable budget and know the areas to look in and how much you want to deal with if the home is older. I sold an older home and didn't want that experience again.
To the person looking for a home. Have you looked in Arden and Fletcher? There are some really nice homes decently priced. Good luck to you in your search.
It's discouraging because you're looking in an area where your budget doesn't meet expectations. The way to change that is plain and simple....choose another area, or increase your budget. Have you considered a bit further north in Arden? https://www.realtor.com/realestatean...=true&view=map
We lucked upon a 2,000 sq. ft. house within our $400K budget with a double garage on an acre just outside of Hendersonville. Bathrooms need updating, but that's about it.

So it all worked out.
Congratulations!
