There was a 2.7 shallow earthquake in Valley Hill, near Hendersonville earlier tonight. I heard a loud boom followed by a good amount of shaking, although it didn’t last very long. Haven’t heard any reports of damage. I was surprised at the amount of shaking for a 2.7 mag. Perhaps, it had something to do with how shallow it was.

Interestingly, there was a 2.1 on December 5 last year in the same vicinity.
