I grew up in Michigan and now live near Greenville, SC. I want to take my son sledding over the break. Where do people in Henderson or surrounding towns go for good (free) sledding? Thanks for any advice you can offer!

Henderson is 4.5 hours from you.

If you meant Hendersonville, it's unlikely to have enough snow for sledding. Normal snowfall in December is around 1".

Did you mean Hendersonville?

Well it is supposed to be in the upper 50's most of the week, not much sledding going on.

We are suppose to get snow in the High Country on Monday. Check Ray's Weather Center for the latest forecast. This is in Watauga and Avery Counties. I think there is free sledding at Beech Mountain, but you need to check for sure. And in Blowing Rock, there is a place right off of Hwy. 221, going north towards the Blue Ridge Parkway or Shulls Mill Road that the locals sled for free. By the way, do not drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the winter because it is closed in many areas and even if you can get on it, in the winter, it can be dangerous because it does not get salted. We have higher elevations than Hendersonville. I am not sure how far it would be to you, maybe 3 hrs. Come up for a visit.

I was going to say "on a hill" but I didn't want to be too obvious.

It's going to be warm this wk, no snow.
