So I just started a new job in Kaukauna and for the time being I'm living with family for a few weeks at least until I can find an apartment I like and afford the sec deposit, etc.

As for me and what I'm looking for, I'm 30, single, no kids, no GF starting with a clean slate and I'm leaning more towards wanting to live within a short cab ride from the bar then worrying about what the school districts are like or where I can buy a nice house out in the country. Logically I'm leaning towards living someplace near college ave if possible. I'd like to find a 1-2 bedroom place for under $600 for rent. If I do end up in a big complex, I'd like to find something newer with decent sized layouts and hopefully a garage, specifically garages that actually have a damn electrical outlet and some lighting so I can work on my car in it if I need too.

I've been around Appleton a ton in the past, but like most people, only to the Mall or bars/restaurants on College Ave. That being said, I have no intimate knowledge of the city or actually living here.

Soooo...... I'm wondering if anyone can give me some recommendations for apartments in the area, and also give me an idea of where I SHOULDN'T live.

Any apartment complexes you liked?

Any complexes you hated because of crappy management, trashy neighbors, people breaking into cars, etc?

Are there any particularly BAD areas or streets near College ave that I should avoid?

Last but not least, can you guys give me a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" rating for particular areas if I can give you an address?

I'm looking at a place at 230 East Hancock St, basically Hancock and Durke is the intersection. Is this a decent area?
