I had humming birds this summer by my perennials (don't know what kind of plant though)! I was so surprised to see them. My neighbor has a hummingbird feeder and they show up when her poodle isn't out.

Since I moved to Wisconsin, I haven't seen any hummingbirds. I don't expect to see them in the winter, but are there hummingbirds anywhere in Wisconsin during the spring and summer? They're my favorite bird, and I want to put a hummingbird feeder on my porch, but I'm not even sure there are any here.

Has anybody seen them?

Lots of Rubythroat hummingbirds in Wisconsin!! We put out several feeders (half a dozen). The same hummingbirds show up year afer year. We know because if we don't have the feeder up by the patio doors, the hummers will show up looking for it. Like "It's always been here! It's gotta be around here somewhere!"

They show up in early May and leave between the 15th and 22nd of September.

Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed them.

Thumbs up on hanging up the feeders next spring FormerCaliforniaGirl.

We hang a few in front of the house and a few in the back. The males are very territorial so they will drive away other males. If you hang multiple feeders it keeps them from fighting so much. You might want to add an oriole feeder too, the orioles like to feed on the hummingbird feeder, usually they pull the anti-bug caps off the hummer feeders so we set one up specifically for orioles. A few orange halves will also keep the orioles around.

I like the talk of spring and hummingbirds! Even though I don't mind winter, this one is shaping up to be a real "corker", I think!

I went to Iowa this weekend and we had to cut our trip short due to the storm currently heading our way! Boy, was it cold! Saturday was fairly mild but Sunday we left Tipton and headed for Des Moines the temperature went from 59 to 12 in less than a half hour. Winter hasn't even arrived yet!

Glad you made it back safely! The temperature change was indeed abrupt.
