I'm probably not even qualified to make a post here, but what the hell. At 19, I wouldn't doubt it if I were the youngest person here. I'm going into my sophomore year at a university. I work part-time retail, and I make $8.50/hour plus overtime. Just throwing in some outliers to these statistics.

That's pretty normal, my job until mid junior year paid only 7.05... Then I got lucky.

Well yeah, but since I've not been working steadily during the school year, I only make part-time wages. I plan to apply for a paid internship sometime next year myself.

Say you make $120,000.

120,000/2,000 = $60/hr.

This is a rough estimate that takes into consideration standard holidays and whatnot.

Thanks.

Forgot to mention Certs: PMP, and a bunch of technical IT certificates.
what the heck do you do?

I'm 18 years old, work part-time (had full time hours for a few weeks but they had to slash us part-timers down due to low store earnings, plus apparently they can't schedule us on full time hours even if we don't mind) at $10/hr. Some decent benefits are available as well, although I don't need most of them (have health insurance through my parents).

When I'm on contract (which I haven't been since May 2010), I manage large IT projects (scoping, budgeting, project management, team assembly, etc) for large banks on wallstreet and pharmaceutical companies in NJ.

On the side, I own and manage two small businesses (Which I didn't include in my hourly rate because there's no proper way to quantify how many hours I put in). One small business provides staff to the projects that I manage for the corporations I mentioned above. The other one is job placement services for the unemployed.

It's important to note that in the NYC/Cenral NJ area... the rates I mentioned are not unusual for a C2C contract in the IT field. My next door neighbor is currently being paid $76/hr through my business for providing an investment bank on wallstreet tradefloor IT helpdesk support.
