We are not talking about a choir boy. This guy has history. The Director refused to remove the guy from the shelter.
This is something that I would mention to an attorney. The Director allows this person to bring instability, insecurity and harm to the shelter. What about the rest of the residents are at risk?

2g,
I've already started the process with an attorney.
The Shelter Director promotes that kind of behavior. They don't give a damn.
sorry this happened ron. civil servants which you have been, are not in fact allowed to "defend themselves" in the traditional and rational sense. they are allowed to dodge and avoid confrontation.
the reason they are treating you bad is bek if they dont and if he sues the shelter-- they are toast. they would rather hang you out to dry than take a law suit on the chin.
when the bad guys attack there are 2 assaults, the physical and then a few days later the one with the lawyer.
you deserve better than this ron, i will pray-- you do it too ok?

Get a layer, since I know that when you were assaulted you got hurt. Go to doc, get MRI, if MRI come back pos for back problems. All most everyone has some back issues. Then collect st disability. After disability ends go on UP. No problems because you left your job for med reasons. Be quick if you chose this rout.
The policy is to not let anyone under the influence inside. You have no idea how these guys act Artsy, seriously.
Very sorry to here about this.
1) you were/are enforcing common drop in policy, that protects both staff and the other cliets; this policy is almost worldwide in scope
2) firing you? the program director wants you out, and sees this as a reason
3) press charges against the client; get a lawyer; get U.I. and school and do something else; you're too good a person for this crap anyway
4) it's not the program directors role to determine who scratched whose face; if the police have not charged you then you didn't do anything
5) clients in these places have KILLED STAFF; your program director and who ever is backing him up need to spend some time there.
6) keep very accurate records and if necessary records of this assault; keep in touch with witnesses and even the police staff who called.
\bin there / done that / got the hell out
and this is in Chicago?
I am glad I am no longer there. My mom thinks they wanted me gone as well. This was the only thing they had on me after 2 years. The police charged the drunk with battery, We have a court date on August 3rd, 2010.
I have documentation for everything. The police did not charge me with anything.
I do have an attorney as well.
Thanks for the response. I hope everything works in my favor. I need a break after this horrific experience.
I would be there RIGHT NOW if P was not fired. I was so miserable working there.
Those clients were a pain in the ass. You have no idea with what I had to deal with. It made me sick to my stomach. It's hard enough dealing with people that don't have all of the MAJOR issues those clients have. Imagine dealing 70 guys that are totally screwed up?
No more.....
Ron
